A 25-year-old, HIV positive, male presents with the complaints of dry cough, fever with chills, and dyspnea on exertion for the last 3 days. His current medications include zidovudine, didanosine and indinavir. His CD4 count is 150 cells /microL. His vitals are, Temperature: 38.7C(101.6F); PR: 90/min; BP: 130/80mm Hg; RR: 28/min. Examination of all the systems is unremarkable. Chest radiography shows diffuse bilateral interstitial infiltrates. Arterial blood gases indicate PaO2 of 65mmHg. What will be the most appropriate next step in the management of this patient?
A. IV pentamidine
B. Inhaled pentamidine
