--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi
.The following study hints will help you in the weeks leading up to the IELTS.

Become familiar with the test as early as possible. The skills being tested in the IELTS take a period of time to build up. Cramming is not an effective study technique for IELTS.

Use your study time efficiently. Study when you are fresh and, after you have planned a timetable, make sure that you keep to it. Set goals and ensure that you have adequate breaks. In the IELTS test, each of the four Band Modules Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking carries the same weight. Study each skill carefully and spend more time on the skills in which you feel you are weak.

Be aware of the exact procedure for the test. Be very clear on the order of each section, its length and the specific question types. There are many resources available to help you practice these skills.

Having a study partner or a study group is an excellent idea. Other students may raise issues that you may not have considered.

Seek help from teachers, friends and native English speakers.

Countdown to the test

Days before the test
This is not a time for intensive study. It is a time to review skills and your test technique. It is important to exercise, eat, rest and sleep well during the week in which you will take the test.
Leave nothing to chance. If you do not know how to get to the test centre, try going there at a similar time one or two weeks before the real test.

The night before the test
You must have a good dinner and go to bed at your normal time not too early and not too late, as you do not want to disrupt your sleep pattern if possible.

Have everything ready that you need to take with you to the test so you can simply pick it up in the morning, for example, the test registration form, passport, test number, pens, pencils, erasers, etc. A pen that runs dry or a pencil that breaks can take several minutes to replace. Check before the exam exactly what articles you need. Set your alarm clock the night before or arrange a wake-up call.

On the morning of the test
Eat a good breakfast. You will have several hours of concentration ahead of you and you will need food and drink in the morning. You may even want to bring more food or a snack with you, especially if your speaking test is at a later time that day. You cannot, however, take food or drink into the exam room. If possible, wear a watch in case you cannot see the clock in the exam room. It is essential that you keep track of time.

Give yourself plenty of time to get to the test centre. You will be required to complete a registration form and to show your passport before you enter the examination room so you must arrive at the time specified by your test centre. If you are early, you could go for a walk. If you are late, you will not be allowed to enter. Avoid the added tension of having to rush.

During the test
Most students at the test will feel nervous. This is quite normal. In fact, it can actually be quite helpful in terms of motivation. It may make you alert and help you to focus. The aim is for you to try to perform at your optimum level.

In contrast, high levels of anxiety can affect a student's performance. However, much of this anxiety can be overcome by good preparation, familiarity with test details and a positive attitude.

The examination room should be suitable for testing, that is, the lighting, ventilation and temperature should be appropriate. If you are uncomfortable because of any of these factors or if there is some other problem, such as not being able to hear the recording of the Listening Module, make sure you ask the person in charge to do something about it. For example, you may ask to change seats.

Examination technique
By using good examination technique you could help to improve your overall score for the IELTS test.
Remember that every section is marked independently. Do not jeopardise your performance in one section just because you believe that you have done badly in another. Do not underestimate or try to predict your outcome. You may, in fact, have done better than you imagined.

Focus on what you know rather than on what you don't know while you are doing the test.
Ensure that you adhere to the times suggested as they usually correspond to the number of marks given for a particular question.

In the Listening and Reading Modules, it is a good idea to write down an answer, even if you are not sure of it, before moving on to the next question. Many students intend to return to the answers they have omitted at the end of the test but do not have enough time to do so. Furthermore, by writing your best answer at the actual time of reading the question, you save the time you need to spend again on re-reading the question and re-acquainting yourself with the subject matter. If you are not confident about your answer, mark it in some way and return to it at the end.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a test of English language proficiency, developed by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate. IELTS is now accepted as evidence of a prospective student's level of English by most universities in English speaking countries.

Here we provide you the free material of IELTS for the Free preparation of IELTS test. There are two different IELTS tests that you can do: Academic and General. The following information will deal only with the Academic test as this is the test used for university entrance.

IELTS is not a test that you can pass or fail. Your assessment will be reported according to a scale from bands one to nine. You will need to contact the university you wish to enter to find out the IELTS score they require for entry into your chosen course. Band one indicates that you have virtually no English at all. Band nine is native speaker proficiency. Universities in Australia typically require a band score of between 6 and 7.

The test questions and tasks have been designed to reflect the general interests of people from an educated background. You will therefore not be required to have any specialist knowledge.

The IELTS test has four components ? Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking. You will receive a band score for each component as well as a global band score.
gud luck

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi

Writing Sample 1

Robots are increasing in operating in the industrialized world. On one hand, robot replace people of dangerous or unpleasant for human beings and robotic manipulators create manufactured products that are of higher quality and lower cost. On the other hand, some people think that robots can cause the loss of jobs. In the final analysis, I am firm a supporter of the latter.

Many robot applications are for tasks that are either dangerous or unpleasant for human beings. In medical laboratories, robots handle potentially hazardous materials, such as blood or urine samples. In other cases, robots are used in repetitive, monotonous tasks in which human performance might degrade over time. Robots can perform these repetitive, high-precision operations 24 hours a day without fatigue.

Activities in environments that pose great danger to humans, such as locating sunken ships, cleanup of nuclear waste, prospecting for underwater mineral deposits, and active volcano exploration, are ideally suited to robots. Similarly, robots can explore distant planets. NASA's Galileo, an unpiloted space probe, traveled to Jupiter in 1996 and performed tasks such as determining the chemical content of the Jovian atmosphere.

Robots are being used to assist surgeons in installing artificial hips, and very high-precision robots can assist surgeons with delicate operations on the human eye. Research in telesurgery uses robots, under the remote control of expert surgeons that may one day perform operations in distant battlefields, remote areas.

It is sometimes said that, robots can cause the loss of jobs. However, robots only cause the loss of unskilled jobs, particularly on assembly lines in factories. New jobs are created in software and sensor development, in robot installation and maintenance, and in the conversion of old factories and the design of new ones. These new jobs, however, require higher levels of skill and training. Technologically oriented societies must face the task of retraining workers who lose jobs to automation, providing them with new skills so that they can be employable in the industries of the 21st century

Five Ways to Improve Your Writing

Even if your future plans don?t include becoming the next Shakespeare or Hemingway, writing is one of the most valuable skills you?ll ever learn. Throughout yourschool years, in college, and beyond, no matter what career you decide on, you?llneed to be able to express yourself clearly. Here are five tips to help you becomethe best writer you can be.

Learn the rules. Mastering the rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation is a bitlike learning to ride a bike. The process might be painful but the results areworth it. The more you learn about the basic foundations of good writing, theeasier, smoother, and more fun the writing process will be.

Stick to the main idea. Before you start writing, identify and write down asentence or two that identifies exactly what you?re trying to tell about or say.

This writing ?blueprint? is called a thesis statement. Everything you include inyour paper, essay, or other writing should support your thesis statement. A clearthesis statement will help you stay on topic and reduce clutter in your writing.Keep it simple. Use plain, clear language whenever possible. You may think fancy words make you sound smart, but it?s more important to make sure readers understand your meaning than it is to impress them with your vocabulary.

Review and revise. Every piece of writing can benefit from some tweaking and polishing. Read your finished draft with a critical eye, marking changes to make later. If possible, ask a friend to read it and make comments too. This feedback will help you avoid embarrassing mistakes and will also help improve your writing.

Use reference tools. Keep a dictionary and a thesaurus handy?whether hard-copy books or electronic versions?to look up words and check spelling. Make a habit of looking up words you don?t know. There are lots of good writing resources on the Internet, too. Find your favorites and use them often.
