47 yr old man is admitted to the hospital after threatening

47 yr old man is admitted to the hospital after threatening to harm a radio announcer he belives was broadcasting his thoughts. Over the past 20 yrs, he has had multiple psychiatric hospitilizations or threatening people who he believed were plotting against him ,trying to control his mind, causing him to hear voices by implanting devices in his head. Past symptoms improved with neuroleptics ,after discharge ,he discontinued and his symptoms worsened. Which of the following is the most appropriate pharmacotherapy to decrease the pt's risk of future hospitilizations?

    a. clozapine
    b. fluphenazine
    c. haloperidol
    d. risperidone
    e. trifluperazine HCL.

Haloperidol Depot Injection is a long acting form of haloperidol that is injected into the muscles of the buttocks. From there haloperidol slowly enters the rest of the body, so one injection can last up to 4 weeks.

It is also sometimes known as: Haldol Decanoate
