I work as consultant in birmingham for 20 years.
I have been observing the current situation in uk for some time. I am surprised as more more doctors come to uk knowing the current situation.
I think its my duty to explain as member of royal college to junior doctors who wish to come to uk.
recent RCP indipendent report showed that there are more than 6000 with out jobs in uk (those completed plab). I recieved at least 20 letters asking a clinical attachment. I feel sorry but couldnt any thing. presently 2 clinical attachees in my ward. I find extreamly difficult to find a trust post or even a locum for them.
My colleagues told me that they use random methods to short list the candidates, as they receive 1500 applications for a post.
getting a sho post is extreamly difficult now. to make matters worse local denearies plan to replace sho rotations by f2 in next year making even haredr to get a job for foreign grads.
one must take all facts and make sensible decision before comming to uk.
as we also fell uncomfortable being unable to help them.
what ever others say make the correct decision
